Overview

Russian President Vladimir Putin has held several speeches and written articles in recent years which reveal his interpretation of international law and Russia's role in it. Professor Lauri Mälksoo visited the Wilson Center to argue that changes to Russia’s constitution in 2020 and the Russian president’s personal preoccupation with questions of historical memory support the conclusion that Putin’s interpretation of international law is imperialist.
